The Rantau Abang Beach in the north of Terengganu is one of the six places in the world where the giant leatherback turtles come on shore every year to lay their eggs. To conserve this natural heritage, turtle sanctuaries have been set up in Rantau Abang, Setiu, Kerteh and also in Pulau Redang.
